MGB holds nat’l accounting, budgeting seminar in Bacolod City

ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) recently held a seminar-workshop to review and ensure the soundness of its financial position.

Held at the Park In by Radisson Hotel in Bacolod City, the MGB National Annual Accounting and Budgeting Seminar-Workshop was participated in by the regional accountants, budget officers, bookkeepers, and the chief of finance and administrative division of the agency’s fifteen regional offices and central office.

MGB Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng, who keynoted the event, emphasized the importance of the annual closing of the books which ensures that the financial records of the agency are complete and accurate.  For without it, the agency will not be able to know the soundness of its financial position.

Uykieng, an accountant himself, shared to participants the steps to observe to ensure the accuracy of the agency’s financial statements.  He also acknowledged the presence of the

resource persons who imparted their knowledge and expertise for the participants to learn continuously and keep themselves updated on new policies.

Resource persons are from the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) who presented relevant policies governing the financial management and budgeting operations for public offices.

Each regional office was also made to present their respective 2023 year-end financial statements for review spearheaded by the MGB central office Financial and Management Division.

MGB VI OIC Regional Director Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon, host, welcomed the MGB top officials and participants to the five-day seminar workshop which she described as a productive week of learning and collaboration.  (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo/MGB VI)
