Solar street lights illuminate Zamboanga Sibugay communities

Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office has recently completed the installation of 290 solar street lights in the towns of Buug and Diplahan.

This P48 million project was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.

Rodelle Ponce, a resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz in Diplahan, welcomes this progress in their area, stressing the importance of street lights, particularly when traveling during the night.

“We are so glad that street lights were installed in our barangay, and I personally believe that this initiative enhanced the safety of our travel at night,” Ponce said.

The solar street lights are designed to bring about benefits, particularly for motorists navigating the roads during the night. The strategic placement of these lights is expected to improve visibility, reduce accidents and make travel safer for both drivers and pedestrians.

Utilizing solar power lessens our reliance on conventional energy sources, aligning with the goals of environmental conservation and resource efficiency. These street lights not only contribute to an environmentally friendly lighting solution but also bring about positive impacts on the daily lives of the local communities.

The project's completion represents an advancement in the creation of safer and more sustainable communities. This initiative not only promotes public safety but also brings about a favorable impact on both residents and visitors, cultivating a sense of security and well-being.
