LA TRINIDAD, Benguet(PIA)-- At least 61 indigent residents of Benguet  are the latest beneficiaries  of  financial assistance from the provincial government as support for medical and burial expenses.

Governor Melchor Diclas  recently led the  distribution of financial aid under the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the provincial government to help alleviate the financial burden  of vulnerable sector of the community.

Under the leadership of  Diclas, the program has undergone enhancements  providing more aid to those facing challenging circumstances.

From the P5,000.00 for medical expenses, it  has been increased to P20,000.00 to help in addressing the rising costs of healthcare and ensuring that residents receive adequate support during times of crisis.

He also advocated for the  annual availment system from the previously three-availment-a-lifetime, to provide residents more opportunities in accessing the program based on their needs.

Residents in need of financial support through the AICS program are encouraged to seek assistance from the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development located at  the first floor of the provincial capitol.

The  provincial government earlier distributed cash assistance to  57 indigent beneficiaries from the different municipalities.

Diclas also shared his commitment for healthcare infrastructure in the province.  He cited  the improvement projects at the Benguet General Hospital, including expansion of facilities to accommodate more patients. The dialysis facility is also undergoing  expansion.

District hospitals in the province are also being improved in a bid to bring healthcare services closer to the people.

Diclas expressed gratitude Congressman Eric Go Yap for the collaboration in improving healthcare services for Benguet constituents. (RMC- PIACAR) (Benguet PIO photos)
