PIDIGAN, Abra(PIA) -- More people in remote communities in Abra will benefit from training opportunities that the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will offer this year.

He added that the agency will boost collaboration not only with TVIs but also with local government units to deliver relevant and useful training to every barangay.

“Ang ating Tesda sa Barangay ay hindi na lang community-based training program. Ito ay vis-à-vis iyong ating tinatawag na devolution of function. It’s not anymore TESDA including TVIs to deliver these but including our local government units [Our Tesda sa Barangay is not only limited to community-based training. This is vis-a-vis the devolution function. It is no longer Tesda including TVIs to deliver these but including our local government units],” he explained.

Daoaten urged local government units to set aside funds for technical-vocational assistance which the TESDA can augment to implement needed training in collaboration with the TVIs.

Aside from municipal government and TVI-led training services, the provincial director also shared that the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) under the whole-of-nation approach to end local insurgency will continue to bring closer services to conflict-affected and vulnerable barangays.

A total of 11 villages in Abra will benefit from the different services and programs of PRLEC member agencies headed by Tesda.

The identified villages for this year are barangays Poblacion (Talampac) in Lacub;  Gayaman in Luba; Bazar and Sallapadan in Sallapadan; Cogon in Tineg; Alangtin, Amtuagan, Dilong, Tabacda, Tiempo, and Tubtuba in Tubo, and  Tamac in Villaviciosa. 

The 'Tesda sa Barangay' and other programs to reach the grassroots is part of the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ that aims for an inclusive economic development and social transformation. (JJPM-PIA Abra)
