LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA)-- The Ifugao Rice Cultural Museum(IRCM) at the Ifugao State University-Main Campus recently hosted a museum open house providing an opportunity for anyone to explore its diverse collection of cultural artifacts and explore the rich heritage of the Ifugao people.
The IRCM located at the 2nd floor of the old Administration Building, IFSU Main Campus in Lamut, also features artifacts and paraphernalia in the Ifugao rice cycle. It also serves as a laboratory for students taking Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices subject.
Museum-in-charge Edna Butticon said that the event aimed to encourage broader interest among students and the community on the museum as a whole, which is aligned to Sustainable Development Goal 11 specifically on strengthening efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage.
The open house also featured culturally-inspired crafts, and other local products of local artisans, which were available for sale.
The event held on February 5 to 8 was in collaboration with the Lamut Tourism Office and the Department of Trade and Industry-Ifugao.
The open house was also in line with the celebration of National Arts Month every February thru Presidential Proclamation No. 683 to celebrate artistic excellence and pay tribute to the uniqueness and diversity of Filipino heritage and culture.(JDP/FBR-PIA Ifugao)
