MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) --The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) is set to embark on the construction of 150 housing units in the municipalities of Balindong, Lumbayanague, and Tamparan.
The MHSD officials and mayors of the three municipalities signed the memoranda of agreement for the projects on February 15.
The 50-unit resettlement housing project in each of the three municipalities is valued at P39.8 million, funded under the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2024. The designated construction sites are in Brgy. Magarang in Balindong, Brgy. Kabasaran in Lumbayanague, and Brgy. Lilod Tubok in Tamparan.
Each single-storey residential housing unit, with a budget of P796,950, spans an area of 6×8 square meters. Each unit features three bedrooms, a comfort room, a living area, a porch, and an outdoor kitchen. The meticulous design also considers various hazards to ensure the safety and comfort of its occupants.
The MoA, as MHSD Minister Hamid Aminoddin Barra emphasized, is a government requirement to ensure that all parties fulfill their contractual obligations.
He also unveiled a broader plan to construct 900 units across the region under resettlement housing projects, including 600 units for camp transformation and development and an additional 600 units outside the BARMM.
“We have been trying to be fair in the distribution of the projects in the different provinces of the BARMM, and we thank the BARMM government for the trust and support. We always bear in mind that we are not just accountable to the BARMM government and the people, the Mujahideen, but also to the national government and ultimately to Allah SWT,” Barra said.
MHSD pledged to closely monitor the progress of the projects, assist local governments in securing necessary permits, and ensure that the project locations are hazard-free
Meanwhile, Mayors Amer-Reggie Bagul of Balindong, Jamal Asum of Lumbayanague, and Mohammad Juhar Disomimba of Tamparan thanked the Bangsamoro government for the housing project and committed to its efficient implementation, specifically adhering to the principles of moral governance.
