Ilocos Norte hosts Little League Philippine Series-North Luzon championship

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The province of Ilocos Norte is currently hosting the Little League Philippine Series (LLPS) 2024-North Luzon Regional Championships.

Established in 1939 in the United States, the Little League Series is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering, nurturing, and overseeing the development of softball and baseball players.

This program offers young individuals a constructive platform for healthy activities and training, all under great supervision. It also helps them instill values to become well-mannered citizens.

Moreover, it also celebrates athletic excellence and promotes teamwork, perseverance, inclusivity, and fair play among players.

A total of 11 teams from all over Northern Luzon competed in a series of baseball and softball matches. The winning team will represent the region in the national championships.

Games were held on Feb. 22-25 and Feb. 29-March 3 at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium.

Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc attended the opening ceremony of the games on Feb. 21 at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena.

“We promise that our sports department and technical officials will be fair in officiating the games because we want to make sure that ang ating hosting ay talagang fair sa lahat ng participants and in the spirit of sportsmanship,” said Manotoc as he assures fairness of the games.
