CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has recently held the last leg of the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 Provincial Roadshow at the Calapan City Convention Center on February 21.

In collaboration with the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Planning and Development Office, the event drew stakeholders from various sectors to discuss and align future development initiatives for the province of Oriental Mindoro.

The activity was also attended by key government officials from Oriental Mindoro led by Governor Humerlito ‘Bonz’ Dolor along with the local executive chiefs of the province to show support during the unveiling of the plan.

NEDA regional director and Regional Development Council (RDC) vice chairperson Agustin C. Mendoza emphasized the plan's focus on inclusive growth, resilient infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability in Oriental Mindoro.

Some of the projects included in the RDP for Oriental Mindoro includes the Batangas-Mindoro Super Bridge, Pinamalayan Airport, Batangas-Mindoro Interconnection Project via submarine cable; conversion of Oriental Mindoro Central District Hospital to Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital, and the Mindoro Island Circumferential Road projects.

In a video message, NEDA Assistant Secretary Greg Pineda recognized the efforts of the provincial government in making sure that developmental and big ticket projects are implemented accordingly to ensure that the province’s economy is geared towards the “Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na buhay ng mga Filipino.”

Mendoza also presented the annual breakdown of the investment projects to be implemented in the region for the following six (6) years. According to Mendoza, there are 1,032 projects lined-up for the region. The programs/projects that shall be implemented will focus on the sectors of development administration, economy, infrastructure, and social. All of these equates to a total amount of P499.31 billion.

The RDP aims for a more progressive Mimaropa region in the next six years. The plan outlines strategic directions and actions designed to promote sustainable development, enhance economic competitiveness, and improve the quality of life for the people of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
