DOH launches integrated info system for healthcare improvement

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) has launched an enhanced version of the Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Information System (iHOMIS+) that will be used in district hospitals in Capiz.

A team from the DOH Western Visayas Office were in the city for the relaunching of iHOMIS+ and to oversee the retraining of personnel at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) in Roxas City and Sen. Gerardo Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao town.

iHOMIS+ integrates electronic medical records to deliver high-quality patient care.

DOH information officer Joeffry Espiritu said that the iHOMIS+ has already started in the previous years, however, it was not as digitized as its latest system.

Espiritu said that through the iHOMIS+ system, it would be much easier to

access patients' data from the rural health units to the district and provincial hospitals and vice versa because it addresses the complexity of manual healthcare management processes in the public healthcare system.

“It uses the latest information technology that facilitates the hospital's day-to-day operations. It also focuses on the integration of the clinic system and the financial and administrative system,” Espiritu added.

The iHOMIS+ aims to streamline patient referrals and management, ensure accurate and up-to-date patient information, enhance delivery services, reduce administrative burdens, and optimize the allocation of public resources while ultimately delivering higher-quality patient care.

Espiritu said that all government hospitals in the province are using the system but Tapaz District Hospital and Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra town are yet to use the upgraded version of the system.

“Hopefully the iHOMIS+ will be fully implemented in all the government hospitals in the province in response to

the UHC law and 8-point agenda of the DOH,” he added. (AGP/PLF/PIA Capiz)
