NTC brings mobile licensing program to Laoag City

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, Feb. 28 (PIA) – Residents of Ilocos Norte won't have to travel far to avail of National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) services as the agency brings its mobile licensing program to Laoag City on March 6-7.

The program will be held on the first floor of the Laoag City Hall from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

In a radio interview with NTC Ilocos region's legal officer, lawyer Ana Minelle Maningding said this program aims to bring convenience to their clients in the province so they can finish their transactions in Laoag City rather than going to their regional office in La Union.

The NTC will offer services like registration for mobile phone dealers, registration and renewal of radio station licenses and radio operators’ certificates, and blocking of Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) numbers of stolen or missing mobile phones.

Registrants for new certificates for Mobile Phone Retailers or Resellers Permit (MPRRP) will need to present a copy of their business permit issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or Mayor’s permit, and proof of paid-up capitalization of at least P50,000.

Meanwhile, for renewal of MPRRP, applicants will need to present a copy of their previous MPRRP and DTI or Mayor’s permit.

For applicants for new Mobile Phone Service Center Permits (MPSCP), they will need to present a copy of their DTI or Mayor’s permit, a copy of their certificate of technician training, a certificate of employment, and a list of service test equipment and tools used.

Applicants for renewal of MPSCP will also need the above-mentioned documents including a copy of their previous MPSCP.

In the two-day mobile licensing, registration and renewal of radio stations will also be available for amateur, commercial, government, and private radio stations.

Business establishments using radio equipment like radiotelephones, telegraphs, and Restricted Land Mobiles (RLM) will also get a chance to register or renew their certificates in the said activity.

Lastly, residents can also come to the mobile licensing to request for blocking of the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) and SIM number of lost or stolen mobile phones.

Complainants will be required to show a photocopy of one valid identification card, and receipt of purchase, IMEI barcode sticker, or police report in the absence of proof of ownership.

"For other provinces of the region, don't worry, we will also conduct our mobile licensing in your area in the next few months so we can cover all our provinces to bring our services closer," Maningding added. (JCR/AMB/EJFG, PIA Ilocos Norte)
