First 300 units of Pambansang Pabahay Program in Laoag City near completion

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, Feb. 29 (PIA) – Residents of Laoag City can look forward to new affordable housing options as the first 300 units of the national government's Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program are expected to be completed by August 2024.

Construction of the project is progressing steadily, with developer EL Construction and Development Group Inc. working around the clock to meet the deadline.

Elliot Louis Mcloughlin of EL Construction and Development Group Inc., the developer of the housing project, said construction of the project is progressing steadily as they are working around the clock to meet the deadline.

“All is in the process now, we are very fortunate that this project is for the people of Laoag so our partners such as Prime Water and INEC (Ilocos Norte Electric Corporation Inc.) have been very supportive to accommodate this project,” he said.

The whole project will comprise a total of 4,600 European-style units spread across 46 five-story buildings, with each floor accommodating 20 units.

Each unit will be 27 square meters worth P1.4 million.

Interested beneficiaries can coordinate with the Pag-IBIG Fund and the City Planning and Development office of the city government.

Qualified Pag-IBIG Fund members are those whose income is not below P15,000 a month to avail of their housing loan to finance their acquisition of a unit under the 4PH program.

One Pag-IBIG Fund member can only avail one 4PH unit and they will undergo the agency’s End User Financing Process.

Pag-IBIG Fund-Ilocos Norte branch will announce the start of the application period.

Approved applicants will pay P2,800 monthly for their units.

In a previous interview, Juanita Jara, housing representative of Pag-IBIG Fund, said the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will subsidize five percent of the interest rate of the housing units.

The 4PH housing program is a flagship program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. aimed at constructing over six million houses, which is expected to benefit some 30 million Filipinos and address the country’s housing needs.

This condominium project was officially sealed during the signing of the memorandum of agreement last October 25, 2023, with City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon and EL Construction and Development Group, Inc., for the construction and development of the housing program. (JCR/AMB/EJFG, PIA Ilocos Norte)
