La Union cops, partners recommit in vow renewal ceremony

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Feb. 29 (PIA) — The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) organized a vow renewal ceremony for 65 couples, including police officers and their civilian partners from the La Union Provincial Police Office (LUPPO), on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Hotel Ariana in Bauang, La Union.

Originally planned for Valentine's Day, the ceremony served as part of PRO 1's post-Valentine's celebration.

The event was witnessed by PRO 1 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Lou Frias Evangelista, PRO 1 officials as sponsors, fellow officers as best men and bridesmaids, and the couples' guests.

Sixty five pairs consisting of police officers and community partners renew their vows at the Renewal of Wedding Vows Ceremony led by the Police Regional Office 1 at the Hotel Ariana in Bauang, La Union.

Themed "SECURED Ang Puso Ko, Ang Pamilya Ko, at Ang Pamayanan Ko!" (My Heart, My Family, My Community are SECURED!), the ceremony mirrored two of Director Evangelista's seven-point SECURED agenda pillars: "compassion for PNP personnel" and "engaging the community for a safer neighborhood."

Director Evangelista highlighted the importance of a strong family foundation and urged everyone to collaborate toward a secure and thriving community.

“As you renew your vows, do not only pledge your love and loyalty to your partners but also to our profession and the people we serve, let our actions reflect the values of integrity, compassion, and dedication that define the Philippine National Police,” Director Evangelista said.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Valdem Joseph Ocampo, the ceremony officer and PRO 1's regional pastoral officer explained the inclusion of civilians, or "community supporters," as recognition of their crucial role as force multipliers for the Ilocos police.

“We invited them [civilians] because they contribute to the PNP's vision and mission,” Colonel Ocampo added.

Among the couples renewing their vows were Police Senior Master Sergeant Maria Caridad Godoy and Police Staff Sergeant Christian Godoy, married for 24 years with three children.

They reaffirmed their dedication to each other, vowing to remain together through life's challenges.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa PRO 1 dahil may ganito silang programa kasi ito, [masasabi na] dito namin mapapatunayan ‘yong pagsasama namin na mag-asawa is mapapatibay through God,” Master Sergeant Godoy added.
