1,600 Benguet folks receive financial assistance

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- More than 1,600 individuals in three municipalities of Benguet  are beneficiaries  of the assistance provided thru the offices of sibling Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano.

 Teams from the senators’ offices, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD CAR) through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program distributed  cash assistance to the beneficiaries   from February 24 to 26, 2024.
 
In Itogon, 500 barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, daycare workers, and dialysis patients received financial assistance during the payout activity at the Itogon Evacuation Center in Malasin, Ucab on Feb. 24.
 
Mayor Bernard Waclin together with Liga ng mga Barangay president Edwin Atumpag and DSWD social worker Carolyn Bayungan  witnessed the  payout where P3,000.00 financial assistance were given to beneficiaries from the nine barangays of Itogon.
 
Political Affairs Officer of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Merry Lane Manintin commended  Waclin for his efforts in sourcing funds to help the people of Itogon. She said the mayor visited the offices in Senate to ask for assistance  for  his constituents.

At least 500 individuals, mostly volunteers and frontliners,   from Kapangan, and  600 frontline workers from Tublay also  received financial assistance. The payouts were  done  with the help of  local officials and  social workers.

A medical desk was also opened during the payout in the three municipalities which provided guarantee letters from the offices of the two lawmakers to patients.
 
The  local officials expressed gratitude to the two senators for providing assistance to the people of Benguet. The province is frequented by the Cayetanos through their Bayanihan Caravan, which provides medical, burial, and livelihood assistance to residents and communities in need.
 
Beneficiaries also  expressed gratitude for the cash assistance. Tessie Sua, a beneficiary from Kapangan , and a  sari-sari store owner, said the senators’ help is timely for the school needs of her children. (JDP/RMC PIA-CAR )(photos from Itogon and Kapangan LGUs)
