As BIO, she will also be a source of development communication outputs of the Philippine Information Agency, through the Municipal Information Officer, by sharing information like situation and activity reports, particularly on the positive impact of government programs, projects, and services implemented in the community.
Another grassroots information frontliner Jeason Bayot of Brgy. Ameligan, Pontevedra said that he will do his share as the BIO to make his constituents aware of government programs, projects, and activities they need to know. Bayot is also a village secretary.
The orientation and organization of the BIO for Pontevedra town was initiated by the Capiz Information Center of the Philippine Information Agency thru the support of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers (CAGPIO).
It was among the highlights of the barangay consultation locally dubbed "Hinunanon sa Barangay" last Feb. 23 to bring government information closer to the people.
During the activity, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) - Capiz Public Information Officer Irene Becares reminded the barangay official participants that the submission of designated BIO will be until March 1 as stipulated in a DILG 6 memorandum issued earlier this February.
The registration may be accessed thru the link, https://bit.ly/R6_BIO_ RegistryForm.
The BIO organization highlighted the participants' pledge of commitment to carry out their role as the official spokesperson of their respective barangay; source of development information; and agent in the fight against fake news, misinformation, and disinformation, among others.
