CLECC reactivated in Iligan City to enhance law enforcement coordination

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) -- To strengthen law enforcement coordination among various government agencies, the City Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (CLECC) here has been reactivated.

Operating under the National Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (NALECC), CLECC's revival aims to streamline efforts to ensure peace and order within the city.

On December 9, 1992, Executive Order No. 41 established NALECC as the national body in charge of overseeing law enforcement operations. CLECC, as its local counterpart, will facilitate regular meetings to discuss, monitor, and assess law enforcement programs across concerned agencies.

CLECC chairperson   Iligan City Police Office (ICPO)  City Director PCol  Reinante Delos Santos underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in maintaining peace and order within the city.

“Hopefully, we will have a more fruitful discussion in the future, especially given the prevailing situations that are occurring in Iligan City and neighboring provinces. Let us make Iligan City a peaceful place to live,” he said.

The members of the committee include the ICPO, National Bureau of Investigation, City Health Office, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Land Transportation Office, Department of Trade and Industry, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Philippine Ports Authority-Port Management Office, Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Coast Guard, and Maritime Police Station.

During the meeting, several key decisions were made to optimize CLECC's functionality. Among these decisions was the replication of NALECC's composition within CLECC, with a suggestion to include the National Police Commission to further enhance coordination.

Moreover, recommendations were made to expand CLECC's membership to include agencies with law enforcement functions beyond its previous scope. Suggestions for inclusion include various entities such as the  City Information Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Department of Labor and Employment,  Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Custom,  Department of Energy/City Treasurer’s Office, Peace and Order, Safety and Security Command Center, National Police Commission, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Quarantine and Permit, and Licensing Division.
