Mayor Uy vows support to BIR tax campaign, cites role of taxes in CDO's dev't

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) - City Mayor Rolando A. Uy rallied behind the Bureau of Internal Revenue's (BIR) 2024 tax campaign during its launching in Cagayan de Oro on February 26, underscoring the indispensable role of taxation in propelling the city's development.

Delivering a message through City Administrator Roy Hilario Raagas, Uy declared, "This occasion is more than just an event in the annual calendar for the BIR. It serves as a platform where we gather to acknowledge the vital role that taxation plays in the growth and sustainability of our city and region."

The mayor expressed gratitude to the BIR Revenue District Officer (RDO) No. 98 for organizing the campaign, acknowledging the theme, "Sa Tamang Buwis, Pag-Asenso'y Mabilis," as a mission to ensure that every peso contributed by taxpayers fosters progress and prosperity.

He extended thanks to the leadership of RDO 98 and Revenue Region 16 for their efforts in revenue generation, highlighting their role in funding development programs for Cagayan de Oro and neighboring local government units.

Uy also commended the unwavering cooperation of taxpayers, deeming it essential for the success of various programs aimed at building a better future for the city and the entire Filipino nation.

Emphasizing the significance of every contribution, Uy stated that taxes paid today fuel initiatives for Regional leadership, Institutional development, Safety and security, Economic recovery, and Sustainability—the pillars of the city's R.I.S.E. Development Agenda.

Furthermore, Uy assured the full support of the Cagayan de Oro City government for the BIR's endeavors to bolster national coffers. He believes this collaboration will play a crucial role in contributing to the city's progress and the nation's economic resilience. (APB/PIA-10)
