BFP kicks off fire prevention month, advocates unity, preparedness

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officially kicked off the observance of Fire Prevention Month 2024 in Cagayan Valley Region through a motorcade, participated in by various regional line agencies.

FCSupt Manuel G Golino, director for Fire Safety Enforcement at the BFP National Headquarters, said that this year’s theme, “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa,” highlights the significance of unity and cooperation in ensuring fire-safe and disaster-resilient communities.

Golino emphasized that this year’s fire prevention month campaign is not just about spreading awareness; it is about fostering a culture of proactive fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

“It is about equipping our communities with the knowledge and tools they need and ensuring that our response mechanisms are updated, coordinated, and efficient,” Golino said.

Furthermore, Golino underscored that the responsibility for fostering a fire-safe community is a shared responsibility, emphasizing the BFP’s commitment to continuously conduct and intensify activities, which aims to raise awareness leaving no citizen uninformed. (OTB/MJPT/PIA Region 2)
