Opportunities unfold during the 2-day jobs fair in Sibugay

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) - The Department of Labor and Employment-Zamboanga Sibugay Field Office (DOLE-ZSFO) marked the 23rd founding anniversary of the province with a 2-day jobs fair held at the Capitol Atrium. 

A diverse array of employment opportunities attracted a total of 1,175 applicants who took the chance to apply for positions from various employers. The jobs fair offered a wide range of options including roles in hospital, finance, construction and even international positions like household worker, receptionist, cashier, among others.

The event aimed to connect job seekers with prospective employers and resulted in 54 applicants securing positions on the spot. The job fair not only celebrated the province's milestone but also demonstrated the impact of bridging the gap between job seekers and employment opportunities.

Haser Lumongcay, one of the successful applicants and a resident of Tungawan town, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing how it has not only provided him with employment but also brought hope and contributed to his family's financial well-being.

"I am truly grateful to DOLE and the provincial government for coming up with this job fair because through this I was able to land a job and it will help me and my family financially,” Lumongcay said.

The event was organized in partnership with the provincial government of Zamboanga Sibugay and its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), underscoring a steadfast commitment to community empowerment and economic development.

DOLE-9 Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, stressed the importance of cooperation and collaboration with various stakeholders in making efforts to give employment opportunities to everyone. 

Governor Ann K. Hofer also expressed the provincial government’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the well-being of Sibugaynons by providing employment opportunities, contributing both to the welfare of the residents and the progress of the province.

The 2-day jobs fair not only marked a significant moment in commemorating Zamboanga Sibugay's 23rd founding anniversary but also symbolized the commitment to empower the local workforce.
