LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) -- The secretaries and treasurers of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in the barangays of Benguet honed their skills and gained valuable knowledge to fulfill their duties efficiently, and better serve their communities with the two-day mandatory training held at the provincial capitol.
The training organized by the SK Federation of Benguet covered essential topics such as specific duties and responsibilities, meeting procedures, financial management, and leadership skills.
"This training is crucial for empowering young leaders to become efficient and effective in their roles," said Francis Likigan Jr., the Provincial Government Office Local Youth Development Officer.
"We are confident they will utilize the acquired knowledge and skills to strengthen the SK, and enhance youth participation in local governance," he added.
Participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers for the activity where they learned lessons that would guide them in the performance of their roles as leaders, and public servants.
“Na-enjoy ko ken dakkel ti naitulong na daytoy kas maysa nga officer ti Sangguniang Kabataan karkaro ta first timer ak, ” [I've enjoyed the activity. This is a big help for us SK officer especially that it is my first time], said Marlet Padcheco, SK Secretary of Barangay Naguey, in Atok.
Republic Act No. 11768 or an Act Strengthening the Sangguniang Kabataan, amending for the purpose certain sections of the SK Reform Act, mandates that any SK official, whether elected or appointed, or any member of the Local Youth Development Council, must undergo the mandatory training programs for the purpose of emphasizing the role of the youth in nation-building and molding them to become better citizens with the values of patriotism, nationalism, and honor as Filipinos.
