Tumauini's newly established evacuation center inaugurated

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 2 and the Local Government Unit of Tumauini, Isabela recently inaugurated the newly completed evacuation center of the municipality.

The facility was funded under the 2022 Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) of DILG amounting to P20 million.

The 15-meter by 30-meter evacuation center has 10 rooms, two kitchens, separate comfort rooms and bathrooms for males and females, a specially designed comfort room for Persons with Disabilities, and additional amenities such as an administrative office, generator set, stockroom, laundry area, and a material recovery facility.

The evacuation center is expected to benefit a total of 3,453 families living in vulnerable areas, particularly in the 10 low-lying northern barangays in Tumauni, namely Fugu Abajo, Fermeldy, Fugu Norte, Fugu Sur, Malamag East, Malamag West, Moldero, Sinippil, Sta. Catalina, and Tunggui.

Aside from this, the newly procured diagnostic and medical equipment funded under the Seal of Good Local Governance - Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF) amounting to P4.997 million was also inaugurated.

It is also composed of a chemistry analyzer, machine electrolyte analyzer, machine, and geneXpert TB-PCR machine.

DILG Assistant Regional Director Elpidio Durwin lauded LGU Tumauini under the leadership of Mayor Venus Bautista for the prudent use of the funds awarded to them.

He said the evacuation center is a manifestation that the local government prioritizes the security and welfare of families that are vulnerable to emergencies and disasters while the health facility will surely address the health-related concerns of the locals.

Meanwhile, Tumauini Mayor Venus Bautista assured that the LGU will be responsible for managing and maintaining the two granted projects.

He said the evacuation center is a manifestation that the local government prioritizes the security and welfare of families that are vulnerable to emergencies and disasters while the health facility will surely address the health-related concerns of the locals.

Meanwhile, Tumauini Mayor Venus Bautista assured that the LGU will be responsible for managing and maintaining the two granted projects.
