Inspection of International Rice Research Institute's agricultural inventions

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspects various agricultural inventions made by the scientists and staff of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) during his visit to the organization’s headquarters on November 29.

PBBM witnessed the demonstration of a drone which can be used for a variety of applications in rice research and production.

According to IRRI, its mapping drones with high-resolution cameras can measure key traits and monitor crop health and performance in real-time, aid in the precision management of nutrients, water, weeds, pests, and diseases. Larger drones, meanwhile, can be used for direct seeding rice, fertilizer application, and spraying of pesticides and herbicides.
