MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) and its various development partners launched online the second batch of Bangsamoro Young Leaders Program-Leadership Communities (BYLP-LeadCom 2) on Wednesday, June 23.
BYC Chairperson Marjanie Macasalong said the BYPL-LeadCom is an avenue for continuous development and learning on leadership and project implementation for the 30 selected youth fellows across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
“The BYLP-LeadCom has been a consistent and ever-reliable partner in the region when it comes to the development of bright and amazing youth leaders,” Macasalong said.
The BYLP-LeadCom is a youth leadership program that aims to empower youth leaders in the BARMM to ideate and implement suitable and sustainable solutions and projects to the pressing needs of their communities.
The program is implemented through a partnership among the BYC, the Ayala Foundation, The Australian Embassy, and Eisenhower Fellowship.
Christian Gomez, BYLP-LeadCom program lead from the Ayala Foundation, said the BYLP-LeadCom is a platform to harness the strengths of the Bangsamoro youth to continue to be agents of peace, development, and positive change in their communities.
The BYLP started as Basilan Young Leaders Program in 2015 and then further improved to Bangsamoro Young Leaders Program in 2018 to widen its scope and offer opportunities to more leaders across the region and its special geographic areas.
In 2018, the first 35 fellows of BYLP-LeadCom successfully implemented 22 youth-led projects, with the help of their teams and mentors. These projects mainly focused on agriculture, fisheries, livelihood, peace and culture and others. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
