MANILA -- The Bureau of Customs-Port of Davao conducts inventory of over 200 overstaying containers at all seaport entries in Davao City. This aims to improve yard utilization and ensure movement of goods amid the global pandemic.
On July 17 and 18, 2021, Port of Davao District Collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino B. Austria together with the members of the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD) supervised the round-clock inventory of the 215 containers. 102 of which are at Davao International Container Terminal (DICT), 83 are at the Sasa Wharf, 18 at TEFASCO and the remaining 123 are at AJMR Wharf.
Furthermore, the Port plans to hasten the disposal of these goods through condemnation, donations and continuous conduct of public auctions to reduce the high number of overstaying containers and relieve pressure from the yard.
BOC Davao will continue to implement measures to expedite the disposal of all overstating containers to ensure the unhampered flow of goods in Mindanao amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. (BOC)
