MANDALUYONG CITY -- In a bold move reminiscent of the quick action that the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) did during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic last year when the country’s premiere humanitarian organization started nationwide testing, PRC will be opening up a “Bakuna Center” right in the middle of Metro Manila’s busiest highway, EDSA.
“We are going to open a Bakuna Center right smack in the middle of EDSA to accommodate the clamor of the people who are looking to get vaccinated,” said PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard J. Gordon.
Gordon added that testing and vaccination are the best weapons that the country has and that the PRC can provide in helping our countrymen get through the pandemic which is running for nearly two years now.
Apart from the planned EDSA bakuna center, which will be located at the corner of BONI Avenue (the site of a former 24/7 convenience store), the Philippine Red Cross has already established 13 vaccination centers nationwide in PLMC-Mandaluyong, Pasay, Port Area Manila, Kabaka Manila, Letran Manila, Tarlac Citywalk Mall, Ever Gotesco Quezon City, Bulacan, Cavite - Bacoor, Arcovia Mall Pasig, San Lorenzo Mall Makati, Zamboanga City - ZAMCELCO, and Iligan City.
Gordon also said that there are 17 more Bakuna Centers that the PRC will be establishing in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao in the coming weeks to come.
With Gordon’s leadership through this pandemic, the Philippine Red Cross has already vaccinated almost 50,000 people. (Philippine Red Cross)
