MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)—In an effort to enhance its capacity to contain COVID-19 and provide care for patients, the Malaybalay city government has constructed prefabricated quarantine facilities which are now nearing completion.

Malaybalay City Mayor Florencio T. Flores Jr. disclosed that he has prioritized this project since last year in order to establish an innovative and cost-efficient quarantine facility through the Office of Civil Defense under the "Bayanihan: We Heal as One" Act.

“In response to the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and the impending threat of another coronavirus variant, the city government of Malaybalay has been doubling its efforts to stop COVID spread by enhancing its quarantine and treatment facilities,” the mayor said.

Flores explained that he directed the City Engineering Office to create a workable 20-foot, 8-unit prefabricated container COVID-19 quarantine facilities equipped with air-conditioning system and individual comfort rooms.

He said this P6 million project could accommodate 16 patients based on the guidelines set by the Department of Health.

Disaster Response Vice-chairman Roberto Flores, who inspected recently the project at Ligtas COVID Center in Patpat village said the construction is nearing completion with 70 percent overall progress rate.

“This would augment the existing local quarantine and isolation facilities at LCC, Pelot’s, TESDA Training Center, and the province’s Wellness and Reintegration Center,” he said.
