MINGLANILLA, Cebu -- The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Cebu provincial government on Friday (30 July) rolled out a subdivision-like housing project intended for 902 civil servants and retirees.
DHSUD Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario and Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Tunghaan Subdivision Project in Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla town – just more than a month after finalizing the Memorandum of Agreement for the undertaking.
“DHSUD has been adamant in strengthening partnership with local government units nationwide to push for the government’s whole-of-nation approach and give Filipino families, especially those from the low-income bracket, access to affordable, sustainable and decent housing,” Secretary Del Rosario said at the activity.
“As you can see, we had the groundbreaking done just after over a month that the MOA was sealed. We want these housing projects that benefit our hardworking government employees, as well as retirees, to enjoy the comforts of having their own house after having served the government all their life,” the DHSUD chief stressed.
Apart from DHSUD and the Cebu LGU, the Tunghaan Subdivision Project is also supported by the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, one of DHSUD’s key shelter agencies.
“Together with the LGUs, and in coordination with our key shelter agencies and partner-developers, the government, through DHSUD, is bent on further strengthening the national housing program and promote resilient Filipino communities across the country,” Secretary Del Rosario added.
Joining the housing czar during the event were DHSUD Assistant Secretary Leira Buan, Regional Office-7 OIC-Director Engr. Francis Ordeniza and other officials.
Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña also attended the ceremony and expressed gratitude to the national government, particularly DHSUD, for the implementation of the project that will benefit civil servants from the Cebu provincial government and Minglanilla LGU.
