BARMM to construct 3-story dormitory bldgs to 6 SUCs

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Six state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will receive three-story dormitory buildings from the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE), an official said on Monday, August 23.

MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said three-story buildings with a 132-bed capacity amounting to P39.14 million will be built in each of these six SUCs.

“In the pursuit of balanced, quality, and inclusive education, we also want to introduce innovative solutions to long-standing problems and explore pioneering approaches to elevate the Bangsamoro educational system while appreciating our rich history, culture, and traditions,” he said.

The construction of the dormitories, Iqbal noted, exemplifies the Ministry’s commitment to providing the best and safe learning for the students and effectively utilizing public funds.

Iqbal recently led the groundbreaking rites for the construction of the building at Cotabato State University (CSU) in Cotabato City.

The other institutions to receive similar building include Mindanao State University (MSU)-Maguindanao in Datu Odin Sinsuat, MSU-Main Campus in Marawi City, MSU-Sulu in Jolo, MSU-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (TCTO) in Bongao, and Basilan State College in Jolo.

Funded under the ministry’s Contingent Funds, the dormitories will have dining halls, study rooms, and conference halls.

Later this year, MBHTE will also commence the construction of 22 units of two-story with 10-classroom school buildings for the basic and higher education learners across the region with a total amount of P471.6 million.

Iqbal said these construction projects will undergo rigorous monitoring to ensure their quality, and to make sure they will be finished within six months. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
