PH gets 720K Sputnik V vaccine doses; largest shipment from Russian vaccine maker

MANILA -- Some 720,000 Sputnik V vaccine doses arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 on Saturday, October 16.

This latest shipment is the largest delivery to date from the Russian-based vaccine maker.

Of this latest batch, 360,000 doses have been allotted for the first dose, while the other 360,000 shots are meant for the second dose.

To date, the country has received a total of 1,290,000 Sputnik V doses consisting of Components I and II.

In an interview following the arrival of the vaccines, Russian Ambassador Marat Pavlov noted that the efficacy of Sputnik V against hospitalization was 94.1%.


For his part, NTF special adviser Dr. Teodoro Herbosa said the Philippines is expecting to receive around 104 million vaccine doses from different manufacturers by the end of October since the shipments started to arrive in February.

Also witnessing the arrival of the Sputnik V vaccines were NTF medical consultant Dr. Ma. Paz Corrales, NTF Director Francel Margareth Taborlupa, Department of Health Director Maria Soledad Antonio, Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation Chairman Benito Yap Aw, and Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation President Olivia Limpe Aw.
