Red Cross Maring Recovery Ops continues in La Union

MANDALUYONG CITY -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is starting this week busy as it continues its recovery operations in Maring (Kompasu) affected communities in La Union. On Monday, October 18, PRC's Emergency Response Unit (ERU) performed clearing operations in Brgy. Rimos 4 in the Municipality of Luna, to make the roads passable as trees and other debris blocked the roads.

The ERU team also assisted other PRC services in the delivery of food packs and bottled water to affected families within the area. Additionally, an ERU assessment team also headed to Brgy. Rimos ES and Sto. Domingo ES to address their request for flushing activities.

The PRC La Union Chapter provided hot meals, water distribution, and hygiene promotion activities in various barangays in the Municipalities of Luna and Bangar, and set up a first aid station and welfare desk at the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) command post in both municipalities.

"Hindi pa tapos ang pagtulong ng Red Cross diyan sa La Union. Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang ating recovery operations sa probinsiya. Kailangan ng pagkain, malinis na tubig at hygiene kits para sa mga apektadong pamilya upang makaiwas sila sa sakit. Hangga't kaya namin, nariyan ang Red Cross upang tumulong," said PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon.

PRC's recovery operations such as these are readily available in the aftermath of natural or man-made disasters and made possible through the generous financial support and contributions from Red Cross partner societies, organizations, companies, and private individuals. (Philippine Red Cross)
