CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--Phase II of the Cagayan de Oro Coastal Road Project, which stretches 9.30 KM from Barangay Puerto to Barangay Gusa, is now in progress with 30.31% accomplishment as of September 2021.
The project’s contract for this year involves embankment works for its slope protection along the shoreline of Macajalar Bay. Upon its completion, this four-lane concrete pavement highway will serve as a diversion road between Puerto and Gusa bypassing the existing Butuan City-CDOC-Iligan City Road (BCIR) which is now heavily congested.
This project is the continuation of the CDO Coastal Road Phase I from Barangay Gusa, CDO to Barangay Igpit, Opol, Misamis Oriental. Travel time from Puerto to Igpit is expected to reduce from the usual 1 hour and 30 minutes via BCIR to only 25 minutes through the CDO Coastal Road.
During the project’s implementation period, job opportunities are created for the locals and Eco-Tourism will also be promoted in the area along the shoreline of Macajalar Bay.
The project is expected to be completed in the year 2027 if funding requirements are met according to the planned schedule. (DPWH-10/PIA-10)
