PGLDN-PPO, PopCom 10 resume family planning outreach activities

TUBOD, LANAO DEL NORTE -- The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN), through the Provincial Population Office (PPO), partnered with the Commission on Population and Development 10 (PopCom 10) for the injection of Progestin-only Subdermal Implants (PSIs) to women of reproductive age (WRA) in Barangay Tenazaz, municipality of Lala, October 19.

The series of outreach activities is in line with their mandate to intensify the implementation of Executive Order No. 12 entitled "Attaining and Sustaining Zero Unmet Need for Modern Family Planning (FP)" as part of the strict implementation of the RPRH Law.

A total of 37 WRAs were provided with implants as their method of choice for delaying pregnancy or limiting their number of children.

"Despite the limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Filipino men and women, especially our adolescents, have access to resources and support for family planning and contraception," Provincial Population Officer Ananette Daniel said.

Accordingly, the knowledge of the different contraception methods for family planning that are available in the Philippine market today will not only empower the female population but will also improve the quality of life of Filipinos, especially the constituents of Lanao del Norte.

"I commend the efforts of the PPO and PopCom in promoting reproductive health in our province. This is an effective way of bringing family planning services and commodities closer to our people," said Governor Imelda 'Angging' Quibranza-Dimaporo.

The schedule for PSIs and venues are the following:

October 28, 2021 - Brgy. Lapinig, Kapatagan Brgy Health Station
October 29, 2021 - Brgy. Poblacion, Maigo Rural Health Unit
November 16, 2021 - Brgy. Poblacion, Magsaysay Rural Health Unit
November 17, 2021 - Brgy. Poblacion, Munai Rural Health Unit
