MBHTE hires 203 teachers for LDS Schools Divisions

MARAWI CITY—The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) of the Bangsamoro Government has hired 203 teachers to fill the vacant teaching positions in the Schools Divisions of Lanao del Sur I and II.

Of the newly-hired teachers, 81 elementary, 37 secondary, and six Alternative Learning System (ALS) were hired for the Division of Lanao del Sur I while 46 elementary, 27 secondary, and six ALS teachers for Lanao del Sur II.

Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal extended his congratulations to the teachers and said their waiting and sabr (patience) have finally paid off.

“Yung nakamit [ninyo] ngayon ay hindi ibinigay in silver plaque. Hindi ibinigay ng kusang-loob [bagkus] pinaghirapan ninyo ng dugo at pawis,” Iqbal said.

[“What [you] have achieved today is not given in silver plaque. It was not given voluntarily [but] you labored with blood and sweat.]

He further said the hiring process for the teachers was not easy.

Although limited slots were available, Iqbal guaranteed that there will be a second time for those who did not make it but were competent enough to pass the hiring process.

He also reminded the hired educators to instill the principle of moral governance in their teaching. He is optimistic that they can help the Ministry carry its mandate of providing inclusive and relevant education and that “no Bangsamoro learner shall be left behind.”

He also reiterated that the Bangsamoro Education Ministry is not just hiring for the sake of filling up positions, instead they want a workforce that will provide service and technical knowledge and skills to the whole Bangsamoro community.

Meanwhile, the ministry will be opening another 1,400 scholarship grants next school year allocated for the children of former combatants. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
