CAMIGUIN (PIA)--The Province of Camiguin announces the resumption of Cebu Pacific flights from Cebu starting November 9 after more than a year of ceased operation due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
At around 11:50 a.m., November 9, Cebu Pacific, the country’s largest low-cost carrier landed once again in Camiguin, one of the best island destinations in the Philippines. This flight from Cebu is the first commercial flight that touched down on the island after more than a year of closure of the Camiguin Airport’s operation.
“For the past few months, we have painstakingly prepared for our reopening by putting in place systems, campaigns, and infrastructure that would ensure high levels of safety and security for host communities and tourists,” Camiguin Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said.
He added that they are very excited with and thankful for the return of Cebu Pacific at this early stage of the province's restart.
Its regular Cebu-Camiguin flights take on Tuesday and Saturday schedules leaving Cebu at 10:55 a.m. and arriving at 11:50 a.m. on the island.
On November 15, 2021, Camiguin will also welcome on its airspace the launching of Cebu Pacific flights direct from Manila. By then, flight schedules would be Mondays and Fridays, leaving Manila at 11:30 a.m. and arriving in Camiguin at 1:50 p.m.
This development hopes to boost the island’s goal of revitalizing its tourism and economy that was heavily affected by COVID-19. Camiguin reopened its shores, October 25 to fully-vaccinated tourists.
Guests coming to Camiguin must also take a nasopharyngeal reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab test before coming to the island. Travellers from Manila and other parts of Luzon must take the test at least 72 hours prior to arrival and 48 hours from Visayas and Mindanao.
Tourists must also create an account at www.cleancamiguinqr.com to generate a user-specific QR code and as a portal for uploading the requirements. It is available under the Health Declaration Form (HDF) tab.
Cebu Pacific further announces its P88 promo fare for routes, Cebu-Camiguin and Manila-Camiguin and vice-versa to entice tourists and locals to take on its skies once again. Booking period is from November 3-December 15, 2021. For further details, one may check www.cebupacificair.com. (CTO/PIA-10)
