CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--As of November 15, price offers by rice traders in Region 10 are reportedly more viable than the P19/kg for clean and dry palay tendered by the National Food Authority (NFA), thus, the management is exerting maximum efforts to attain its palay procurement target, including resorting to mobile procurement.
In a mobile procurement, NFA will pick up farmers' palay straight from where they have them dried or meet up at pick up points. Classifying, rebagging, weighing and payment would transpire right in the area. No cost will be shouldered by farmers in the said scheme.
NFA Misamis Oriental based in Baloy, Cagayan de Oro City conducts mobile procurement as far as Baungon, Bukidnon and Gingoog City.
To save time and to procure more rice considering the tight competition with traders, another quite similar scheme is widely practiced by NFA in the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte wherein NFA will simply haul farmers’ palay then all other procurement procedures mentioned above will be done inside NFA warehouses or buying stations.
Procurement teams in Misamis Occidental have been practicing this hauling scheme in the towns of Bonifacio, Clarin and Tangub City. Sultan Naga Dimaporo is the farthest Lanao del Norte Team have reached while Bukidnon Team went as far as the municipality of Cabanglasan to augment existing palay bufferstocks.
To avail of the said services, one may get in touch with the NFA-10 branch office hotlines: NFA Misamis Oriental (0905-413-6905), Lanao del Norte which includes Misamis Occidental (0955-961-1220), Bukidnon (0926-198-6340) and Regional Office (0936-944-3539). (NFA-10/PIA-10)
