Normin project monitoring group inspects Mindanao’s 1st planetarium observatory

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Regional Project Monitoring Committee-Region (RPMC)-10 visited Mindanao’s first ever planetarium, which is being constructed in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental during its 4th Quarter 2021 field monitoring visits, November 23-25.

The 755 square-meter facility is a project of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in the amount of PhP35.05 million.

The observatory includes a planetarium chamber and a small astronomical observatory, featuring a large dome-shaped projection screen that shows constellations, planets, and various astronomical phenomena.  The project will be completed by February 2022.

The monitoring team also inspected major bypass road projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-10 in Misamis Oriental province and Cagayan de Oro City (CDO).

The team inspected the Pueblo de Oro/CDO Airport Mountain Diversion Road, the Balingoan-Claveria Bypass Road, the Puerto-Claveria Bypass Road, and the CDO Eastern Interior Bypass Road.

Once completed, these bypass roads will serve as alternate routes for vehicles plying through the Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan road, easing traffic congestion in the main thoroughfares of CDO.

Also monitored were the Assistance to Municipalities projects of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 in Misamis Oriental, namely: the Upgrading of Buko Bypass Road in Kinoguitan, and the Construction of Level III Water System in Tagoloan.

The team also visited the Balubal Communal Irrigation Project; Family Model Farm that comprised the Construction of Greenhouse Structure and Drip Irrigation System in Barangay Tablon, CDO, and the Flood Risk Management Project for Cagayan de Oro River in both the Kauswagan and Consolacion sections.

For the Kauswagan section, the project has a 74 percent physical accomplishment, with ongoing embankment works along the dike.  The Consolacion section has an 89 percent physical accomplishment, with the current construction of the proposed esplanade. (NEDA-10/PIA-10)
