Malaybalay TF-COVID hits zero new cases in 9 straight days

MALAYBALAY CITY (PIA)—The Malaybalay City Government COVID-19 Task Force has reported zero new cases in nine straight days since November 9.

From then on through November 18, the daily tally of active cases put a record low of only three active cases.

As of November 18, a total of 114,119 vaccines were deployed, administering 73,473 Malaybalay residents for their first dose, while 40,726 were fully vaccinated.

On the same day, the vaccination team administered a record high of 2,323 jabs since its rollout.

The recent accomplishment reflects 55.71 percent for the first dose and 35.49 percent for the second dose of the total target population.

For the past 10 days, the COVID-19 Incident Management Team also recorded zero new deaths.

City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr. commended those who contributed to achieving this new development in fighting the deadly virus.

He likewise thanked the people for responding to the call of health authorities to have them vaccinated in order to help the government end the pandemic.

"Vaccines are now available to the rest of the adult population, including children aged 12-17. There is no reason we cannot achieve herd immunity in the near future,” he said during his regular visit at the Enhanced Screening Area and Vaccination Center in Barangay 4.

The Mayor reiterated his call for everyone to get vaccinated. He urged people to follow health protocols despite the drop of COVID cases.

“We cannot let our guards down. The threat is still there, so we have to be cautious in our daily activities,” he added. (Malaybalay LGU/PIA-10/Bukidnon)
