CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Regional Development Council (RDC)-10 Macro and Development Administration Committee (MacroCom) endorsed to the RDC-10 Full Council to continue the implementation of Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) amid calls by some lawmakers to defund it.
The SBDP is the government’s flagship program for poverty alleviation and development in poverty-stricken, geographically isolated, and former conflict-afflicted areas.
“The SBDP certainly brings development to far-flung and poor barangays,” said Mayor Renante V. Inocando of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon, President, League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Bukidnon, and Chairperson of the Committee.
In said meeting, the committee also endorsed to the full council the following priorities: (1) FY 2023 Annual Investment Program of the Macro Sector; (2) recommending to national government agencies to discontinue the practice of allocating Centrally Managed Items; and (3) supporting the establishment of the Community-Based Monitoring System.
The meeting was conducted in blended mode with some members attending onsite at the Municipal Hall of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon. (NEDA-10/PIA-10)
