Sen.Go remains steadfast in helping Filipinos in need as he provided assistance to residents in Talisay and Victorias, Negros Occidental

PASAY CITY -- Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues to provide much-needed assistance to pandemic-affected communities as he sent his team to distribute aid to vulnerable residents in Talisay City and Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Monday, December 6.

In his video message, Go urged the public to trust and support the vaccination efforts of the government and reiterated the need for them to get inoculated , once eligible, as soon as possible.

“Ang target po natin makamtan ngayong taong ito ay population protection at herd immunity po para naman po unti-unti na tayong makabalik sa ating normal na pamumuhay,” said Go.

“Mga kababayan ko, habang patuloy na pong dumarating ang mga bakuna, pakiusap lang ho namin ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte, magtiwala ho kayo sa bakuna,” he stressed.

The senator likewise asked the local leaders to work closely with the national government and ensure that vaccines are efficiently rolled out to their constituents, especially to the elderly. He requested them to inoculate senior citizens in their own homes, if necessary.

Go then reiterated his appeal to incentivize those fully vaccinated members of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to encourage more Filipinos especially the poorest of the poor to participate in the national inoculation drive.

To ensure the safety of everyone in attendance at Don Esteban La Rama Hall in Talisay City and Victorias City Sports Coliseum, the senator’s outreach team grouped the 152 beneficiaries into smaller batches and strictly followed necessary health protocols.

The team then distributed snacks and masks to the residents. They also gave away new pairs of shoes and bicycles to select recipients and provided others with computer tablets to help their children during their classes.

Meanwhile, Department of Social Welfare and Development personnel distributed livelihood assistance to the residents.

As he strives to ensure that underprivileged Filipinos get convenient access to quality healthcare services, Go, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, assured the residents that they may call on his office for additional medical aid and urged them to visit the Malasakit Center at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City where they may receive help in settling their hospital bills.

Principally authored and sponsored by Go, Republic Act No. 11463, otherwise known as the “Malasakit Centers Act of 2019”, mandates the establishment of Malasakit Centers in all Department of Health-run hospitals and in the Philippine General Hospital to ensure that Filipinos, particularly poor and indigent patients, can conveniently access medical programs offered by the DSWD, DOH, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

To further boost the economic development in the province, the senator also supported several projects, such as the road rehabilitation in Bago City, Bacolod City, Ilog, Moises Padilla, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, San Carlos City, Talisay City and Toboso; construction of buildings in Salvador Benedicto, Calatrava, Himamaylan City, Vallodolid and Victorias City; construction of drainage canals in Enrique B. Magalona and San Carlos City; and construction of infectious disease wing in Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay.

Concluding his message, Go lauded Representative Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and other local government officials for their dedicated public service amid the global health crisis. (OSBG)
