MANDALUYONG CITY -- "Hindi tumitigil ang pangangailangan ng dugo", reiterates the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and CEO Senator Dick Gordon as the humanitarian organization launched a new Blood Facility at the PRC Quezon City Novaliches Branch on 30 January 2022.
According to PRC Quezon City, the new Blood Facility has the capability to cater to the blood needs of 14 barangays in Novaliches.
Targeting will be done in the following barangays: North Fairview, Bagbag, Gulod, Sta Lucia, Nova Proper, Capri, Fairview Proper, Lagro, Nagkaisang Nayon, San Agustin, Kaligayahan, Sta Monica, San Bartolome, and Pasong Putik.
The Blood Facility can accommodate six donors at a time and can accommodate about 30-50 donors in a day. The PRC is the national provider for 50% of the country’s blood supply.
Present at the opening was PRC QC Chairman Gov Ernesto Isla, Dir. Lydia Pedernal, Dir. Fernando Delgra Jr., PRC QC Novaliches Branch Council Chairman PM Vargas, Cong. Alfred Vargas, Councilor Ram Medalla, Capt. Jonel Quebal and his Council of Barangay Fairview, PRC QC Nova Branch Council Member Engr. Bernie Dagdagan, and Member Mark Anthony Peralta.
At the same time, Sen. Gordon calls on the people to keep in touch with any of the 104 Red Cross chapters and 99 blood service facilities, and to contact the hotline 143 for any urgent blood concerns.
