MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)--Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office (MOPPO) led by Acting Provincial Director PCol Eufronio L. Obong Jr., conducted an Anti-Illegal Gambling Operation (Illegal Cockfighting), January 29 at Sitio Ninang, Barangay Tuno, Don Victoriano Chiongbian, here.

The Provincial Intelligence Unit together with Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Misamis Occidental, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and Don Victoriano Chiongbian Municipal Police Station immediately conducted a joint law enforcement operation in response to numerous complaints from concerned citizens and an intelligence report detailing the occurrence of said illegal cockfighting activity, including violations of the minimum health standards and protocols as well as the requisites and restrictions set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on certain activities under Alert Level 3.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 110 personalities and confiscated 18 live fighting cocks, 2 dead fighting cocks, 14 gaffing blades, 4 weighing scales, 1 set score board, and P111, 000 bet money.

"We have orders to intensify our campaign against illegal gambling, including illegal cockfighting. We have repeatedly warned everyone but these violators disregarded our warning. They are emboldened because the illegal 'tupada' was allowed by their local officials. We will not tolerate them and we will run after all of you," Obong said.

In his report to Regional Director PBGen Benjamin Acorda, Obong lauded the dedication of its personnel and assures the people of Misamis Occidental of Police Regional Office (PRO)-10's continuous and genuine commitment against all forms of illegal gambling as mandated by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
