CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--In line with strengthening the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region-10’s communication arm, the Regional Communications and Information Committee (CIC) of the office tackled strategies and targets, January 24 to ensure exemplary performance for this year.

For this year, the committee will highly focus on anchoring its effort to the Region’s Local Government Resource Center (LGRC), which promotes a culture of learning and knowledge-sharing in pursuit of sustainable development through excellence in local governance.

The CIC is currently under the “Multimedia and Knowledge Services” component of the LGRC. Under this component is the development of information materials on the various programs, services, and thrust, to ensure widest dissemination to the intended audience.

With this, DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe expressed the importance of the CIC in producing information materials that would combat the further spread of fake news, especially in virtual platforms.

“Accurate information is still the most important resource for the public to make informed decisions. This will also prevent rumors and misinformation from spreading,” he said.

On the other hand, to recognize exemplary performance of the CIC members, the following teams were awarded for submitting the greatest number of information materials in CY 2021: Regional Office Category: Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division, and DILG Camiguin for the Field Office Category.

DILG-10 Assistant Regional Director Yvette Tolentino Sunga extended her congratulations to the recognized teams, while posing a challenge to the other members to continue to be onboard with the targets for this year.  (DILG-10/PIA-10)
