DILG-10 supports measures to prevent COVID-19 spread amid poll activities

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the region amid the conduct of election campaign activities, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 exemplifies its support to institutionalize the new normal in the conduct of rallies, meetings, motorcades and other campaign activities through signing of Regional COMELEC Campaign Committee (RCCC) Resolution NO. 2022-01 (S. 2022).

As part of the RCCC, DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe reminded the need to prioritize one’s health and safety in the conduct of campaign activities, especially that the pandemic is not yet over.

“We are enjoining our political parties, organizers, and as well as the public who will be involved in the conduct of election campaign activities, to be mindful in every activity that they will conduct and attend to,” said Agabe.

The Minimum Public Health Standards must continually be practiced as people do not want another surge of COVID-19 cases in the region, he added.

Also known as the “Resolution proving for a Standard Template Institutionalizing the New Normal in the Conduct on In-Person Campaign; Rallies; Caucuses, Meetings and Conventions; Motorcades and Caravans; and Miting de Avance in Connection with the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections,” the said Resolution provides guidelines to be observed in areas per category level, based on the Alert Level prescribed by the IATF-MEID.

The RCCC is tasked to implement the provisions of COMELEC Resolution No. 10732, mainly, to monitor the conduct of election campaign activities in the entire region. Further, in pursuance thereof shall strictly implement safety protocols and other applicable guidelines as prescribed by the COMELEC and IATF.

The RCCC, chaired by the COMELEC’s Regional Election Director, is composed of the Regional Directors of the DILG 10 and Philippine National Police (PNP)-10, and the Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (4ID, PA). (DILG-10/PIA-10)
