OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)--The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Misamis Occidental led by Provincial Director Pablio Benitez, Jr. initiated a face-to-face dialogue meeting on the procurement and implementation of Local Government Support Fund -Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) FY 2021 Projects, February 10 at The Promenade by Johann's Cuisine, Bañadero Highway, Ozamiz City, here.
“We have initiated this dialogue to push the implementation of these projects. The future of SBDP will largely depend on the performance of the FY 2021 projects. All eyes are on you on the implementation of these projects. We can only do so much in the DILG, but at the end of the day, it’s really you, the implementing local government units (LGUs), who will determine the future of SBDP,” Benitez said.
He also encouraged LGUs to help each other. "This program is not for you, us, but for our fellow countrymen living in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs),” he added.
The SBDP, a flagship Program under President Duterte’s administration, is evidence of the national government’s commitment to bring development and sustainable peace to far-flung communities that were once affected and infiltrated by communist-terrorist groups.
The dialogue aims to solve the delays on the procurement stage and identify their resolutions to expedite processes and create movement on the physical status of the 22 SBDP projects in the Province of Misamis Occidental.
With the coordination of all participants, each of the implementing LGUs was able to present their identified issues/concerns and formulate the applicable strategies and catch-up plans needed to resolve such issues.
DILG Field Officers, City and Municipal Engineers, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) members, representatives from Protected Area Management Office, Provincial Government, and City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) with SBDP projects, deliberately attended the activity.
