IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon (PIA)—Residents of Hagpa, one of the upland barangays in Impasugong town, are finally enjoying their drinking water supply after the government completed the project and turned it over to the barangay, Wednesday.
The Level II Potable Water System that costs P1 million is the first completed project of the ‘Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP)’ in Northern Mindanao that will benefit close to 300 families. It is one of the village's three priority projects. Along with the water system, a local access road and a one-storey school building with three classrooms are being built.
Hagpa Barangay Captain Eber Suday said these three priority projects are implemented through the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) funds.
Suday thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for the help that inspired hundreds of families who can now benefit with the newly built potable water system in the community.
“Dako kaayo atong pagpasalamat sa walay bugto nga suporta sa gobyerno. Bisan pa sa kalayo sa among barangay, naabot gyud kami sa gugma ni Presidente [Duterte] ug sa mga ahensya sa gobyerno. Nahatagan kita ug proyekto para sa kalambo-an natong tanan. (We thank the President’s love and unwavering support of various government agencies. We are geographically isolated but still they came to help and make our lives better),” he said.
Meanwhile, Arnel M. Agabe, regional director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Region 10, explained that the turnover phase is the transition from construction to utilization. He also clarified that the projects were identified through the local government of Impasugong and DILG-led Retooled Community Support Program, in which barangay Hagpa functionaries and residents met to assess their primary needs.
“This newly completed project promises residents convenient, safe, and clean water. This historic day was made possible by the dedication and collaborative efforts of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, local government units, and national government agencies, as well as other stakeholders who contributed to the achievement of our peace and development goals. Consequently, I strongly advise our residents not to join communist-terrorist groups because they will not solve poverty-related issues,” Agabe said during the turnover ceremony.
“Nakita sa atong Presidente nga ang taga Barangay Hagpa nagkinahanglan og tubig, kalsada, ug eskwelahan. Mao gihatagan kamo og prayoridad. Kini usa ka pamaagi sa pagpakita sa inyo nga ang atong solusyon sa kapobrehon dili ang pagsuporta sa NPA. (Because our President recognized the need for water, roads, and schools in Barangay Hagpa, you were prioritized. That action is the government's way to show that joining the NPA is not the solution to end poverty),” the DILG regional director said. (DILG-10/PIA 10-Bukidnon)
