PSA-10 starts WIDI survey, focuses women in IT

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)--The Women and Information Communications Technology (ICT) Development Index (WIDI) Survey is the first national survey on ICT which focuses on women and girls in the country.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) started the survey, January 31, and targets to complete the enumeration by February 26.

This undertaking of the PSA is in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to gather baseline data on women and girls on their ICT access, use and skills. Information to be generated from the survey will be used by the government in crafting appropriate ICT-based policies and programs aimed to empower women through the use of ICTs.

The WIDI survey will utilize thirteen field interviewers to cover 2,587 sample households throughout Region 10.

These field interviewers were carefully trained on the concepts, administration of questionnaires, field operations guidelines, and the use of android tablets in the data collection to ensure the quality of data that will be collected.

The PSA is asking for the support of the public for the successful conduct of the survey. The office also assures the respondents that the data which will be collected by the enumerators will be held strictly confidential. Observance of the minimum health protocols will be strictly followed during the conduct of the survey. (PSA-10/PIA-10)
