OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)--The 17 cities and municipalities in the province of Misamis Occidental heeded the national government’s call for massive vaccination across the country by activating 21 vaccination sites to facilitate the inoculation process, February 10-11.
The focus for this round of vaccination drive is the administration of primary doses of unvaccinated A2 or senior citizens, unvaccinated A5 population, and individuals with due booster doses.
The Province of Misamis Occidental has achieved a total of 8,419 individuals inoculated coming from different priority groups during the two-day vaccination drive.
During the Laging Handa briefing, February 5, Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said the vaccination drive is still nationwide but the main goal is to increase the vaccination coverage in areas where the inoculation rate is low, especially among senior citizens and to promote booster shots for the adult population.
"We are doing it to encourage those who have yet to receive their first dose as well as boosters. It's important to ramp up our vaccination for A2 and A3 priority groups," she added.
This event was the third installment of the national vaccination drive, with the first one held November 29-December 1, 2021, and the second, December 20-22, 2021 dubbed as Bayanihan, Bakunahan National COVID-19 vaccination days. (DILG Misamis Occidental/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
