IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay Province - The Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict rallied the support of selected Barangay Chieftains for the final push against the Communist Terrorist Group, Tuesday morning, February 22, 2022.
The ZDN PTF-ELCAC convened its 1st Quarter Meeting held at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City which was attended by regular members of the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council, Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council and Provincial Development Council.
During the program, PCol Giovanni Hycenth Caliao I, Provincial Director, Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office presented the Updates on Peace and Order and Safety Situation of the province.
Meanwhile, Agent Marvin Santos, Provincial Officer, Philippine Druge Enforcement Agency Zamboanga del Norte presented the Updates on Anti-Illegal Drug Campiagn.
In addition, Ms Leticia E Jagonia, Provincial Planning Development Coordinator presented the Locally Funded Projects under Annual Investment Program for CY 2022 in the identified priority barangays.
Lastly, Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, Commander, 102nd Infantry Brigade through his operation officer, presented the Updates on the Anti-Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism Campaign.
"With only 26.67% remaining members of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee translated to 52 individuals versus 195 before the onset of the intensified campaign in 2019, the support and active participation of the barangay officials and the community are deemed vital in the full destruction of the CTG units not only in the province but as well as the entire region," Brig. Gen. Nicolas said.
The activity was attended by eleven (11) Barangay Chieftains of the province which were identified and invited by the Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support Cluster Co-Chairperson, Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas.
The Punong Barangays expressed their full support and commitment in empowering and mobilizing their constituents in insulating their communities from the presence and influence of the CTGs.
The target deadline of ending the communist insurgency problem of the province is set by the end of the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
During the activity, 29 former rebels received Php65,000.00 each from E-CLIP and 5 others receive Php20,000.00 financial assistance from the Provincial Government headed by Hon. Roberto Uy, Provincial Governor. (RVC/EDT/PIA Zamboanga del Norte)
