QUEZON, Bukidnon (PIA)—As part of the department’s mandate to provide technical assistance to local government units (LGUs), the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Region 10 (DILG-10) responded to the request of Quezon town in Bukidnon province to conduct a seminar on Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) and Efficient Government Service Delivery (EGSD) early this month.
The seminar-workshop will guide the LGU functionaries on how to simplify the issuance of permits and licenses to improve the municipality’s competitiveness and ease of doing business.
The undertaking is pursuant to the EODB Act, also known as the 'Whole-of-Government (WOG)’ Process Reengineering, which aims to redesign government processes in order to achieve fundamental improvements in quality, speed of service, and cost efficiency.
Chief Hazel L. Occeña of DILG-10’s Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD) served as the resource speaker. She discussed the standards in processing business and nonbusiness-related transactions of LGUs, as well as guidelines in the streamlining of relevant processes.
Participants gathered for a workshop on a Client Journey Map, a tool used to assess the processes involved in customer engagement of various agencies in order to further identify impractical steps and accelerate customer-centric processes.
Representatives and department heads from the local regulatory offices namely Municipal Treasurer's Office, Building Officials' Office, Accounting Office, Business Permits and Licensing Office, Civil Registrar's Office, Municipal Administrators, Environment and Natural Resources Office, Social Welfare and Development Office, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Philippine National Police (PNP) actively participated in the training sessions.
With the easing of mobility and travel restrictions, DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe urges all LGUs in the region to go full blast on their recovery efforts, particularly for their local economies, which were adversely affected by the pandemic. (DILG-10/PIA-10/Bukidnon)
