CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City (PIA)–In commemoration of Women’s Month, female soldiers from the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division (4ID) in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Finance Center Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AFPFC) distributed 500 assorted relief packs to the victims of Typhoon Odette to residents of Barangay Consolacion and Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City.
Lupon Chairwoman Roxanne Roa Consuelo Fuentes of Barangay Consolacion, expressed her gratitude to the women soldiers leading the activity, echoing her constituents’ sincere amazement to the AFP for the assistance provided amidst the continuing challenges of the pandemic.
“We are women and proud, thus, we are thankful to our Commande, MGen. Wilbur Mamawag for empowering the women soldiers of 4ID. In an organization dominated by men, the role of women is equally given importance,” said Staff Sergeant Marlycel Saliling, one of the women soldiers’ facilitators.
In a statement, 4ID Commander MGen. Wilbur Mamawag underscored the women soldiers’ participation in nation-building and how their active participation in uplifting the affected communities can be a source of inspiration.
Mamawag also lauded the AFPFC’s effort in continuously partnering with 4ID in providing assistance to typhoon victims. Last week, 500 assorted packs were also donated by the AFPCC to the different barangays of Surigao del Norte. (4ID/PIA-10)
