CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Rehabilitation/Reconstruction of Bacolod-Madalum Highway in Munai town in Lanao del Norte benefits the community of Barangay Kadulawan not only for convenient daily transit but also for fast transport of their local products from the farm to the market, such as crops, sun-dried coconuts, and timber.
The slope protection installed along the winding road alleviates the risk of accidents in the area, most especially during rainy days.
Allocated project cost is P 45.7 million, funded under the Regular Infrastructure Program of CY 2021. The project is a two-lane road measuring a total length of 1,145 kilometers which includes a concrete paved shoulder, 396.3 meters of concrete-lined canal, and slope protection.
The Department of Public Works and Highways implemented the project under the Duterte Administration’s Build Build Build program.
Sihabuden B. Mapantas a resident of Brgy. North Cadulawan expressed gratitude to the government as the project will help them transport their local products conveniently.
"Thank you DPWH for implementing this project, and the LGU who helped realize the dream of the people in North Cadulawan, Munai. Now, we can transport our local products such as timber, root crops, and sun-dried coconuts to a wider market without losing profit," he said.
Mapantas also said that before the rehabilitation of the road, it used to be accident-prone, especially during rainy days and nighttime, riders slipping off out of the slope. Now that the concrete slope protection has been installed, there was no accident observed or reported so far. (DPWH 10)
